Opti Beginner - Age 7 to 12

This course is open to beginners but also to sailors who have taken a summer camp with us before and want to learn more. This is a course for young sailors who want to get on the water and learn the basics of sailing. They will have fun learning to control their boat in a variety of winds. Sailors will have opportunities to sail both alone or with a partner in a fun and exciting environment. Sign up with a friend or family member for boat sharing, or we can pair up sailors for the week. Please read our CBSC "Return to Sport Guidelines" for information about all the cleaning measures we have put into place.

Opti Intermediate - Age 8 to 13

This fun course focuses on improving skills sailing in the Optimist dinghy independently with a focus on boat control and sailing with confidence. Minimum 8 years old at the time of the course.

Opti Advanced - Age 9 to 13

This course focuses on beginner racing skills such as mark rounding’s, accelerating off a start line, and sailing independently around a racecourse.

Teen Sailing - Age 13 to 17

All skill levels welcome. Try a new sport or join us again, coaching will be tailored to you no matter your abilities! You will sail in a fun team environment improving your sailing skills. For sailors with some previous experience, you can work your way up to our junior sailing team. Learn the skills to sail in bigger winds. Improve your confidence, independence and get sailing fast! Sign up with a friend or family member for boat sharing, or we can pair up sailors for the week. Adult Learn to Sail - Age 18+

This course is geared towards inexperienced sailors who want to learn some basic skills. You will sail with a partner and explore Comox Bay learning how to steer the boat and trim the sails. The focus is to get time on the water and learn as you go. Work towards your CAN Sail Certification and the ability to sail our club boats with confidence. Sign up with a friend or family member for boat sharing, or we can pair up sailors for the duration of the session. Adult Masters Sailing - Age 18+

This course is for Adult sailors with some experience who would like coaching to build their skills in varying conditions. You will learn about race tactics in a fun encouraging team atmosphere. Full CBSC Members are encouraged to participate in the Wednesday night club race series and the Club Regatta on August 7th & 8th!

*Note - Our tiny group of mature Teen Sailing Team members who missed out on their Spring training will be joining this group for the summer session which will add to the fun!

Summer Family Introduction

Are you interesting in joining our club with your family but not sure where to start? Is your child unsure about trying sailing but it’s something you have always wanted to do? Sign up for a course together! Certified coaches will give you and your family a taste of sailing and kayaking. The course is a fun introduction to water safety and a great way to meet new friends at the Comox Bay Sailing Club.

Kayak Familiarization Course

Full members need to take the Kayak Familiarization Course as a prerequisite if you wish to use the kayaks. Basic members need to upgrade to Full membership if you wish to use the kayaks but you are welcome to take the course before you upgrade. Adults who have paid for the course are welcome to bring along one of their children for free.
